Brief Bio
Pasquale Ardimento received a MS with full marks and honours and a Ph.D. from University of Bari. In 2005, he was visiting researcher at the Department of Engineering, University of Durham (U.K.). At present, he is an assistant professor at the Department of Informatics, University of Bari and his research is focused on studying bug fix time prediction models to predict the fix-time of newly reported bugs in order to help out the developer during the triaging process by prioritizing which bugs to fix first. He published more than forty papers in international and national journals, international collections, conference proceedings, workshop proceedings. He was involved in several national research projects and European projects and served as reviewer for many international and national conferences. He was also involved as web-chair in CSMR (Conference on Software Maintenance and Reengineering) 2006.

Brief Bio
Marta Cimitile is Assistant Professor and Aggregated Professor at Unitelma Sapienza University of Rome (Italy). She received a PhD in Computer Science in 06/05/2008 at the Department of Informatics at the University of Bari and she received the Italian Scientific Qualification for the Associate Professor position in Computer Science Engineering in April 2017. She published more than fifty papers at international conferences and journals. Her main research topics are: Business Process Management and modeling, Knowledge modeling and Discovering, Process and Data Mining. In the last year, she was involved in several industrial and research projects and she is a founding member of the spin-off of University of Bari named Software Engineering Research and Practices s.r.l. (
Mario Luca Bernardi

Brief Bio
Mario Luca Bernardi received the Laurea degree in Computer Science Engineering from the University of Naples "Federico II", Italy, in 2003 and the Ph.D. degree in Information Engineering from the University of Sannio in 2007. He is currently an assistant professor of Computer Science at the Giustino Fortunato University. Since 2003 he has been a researcher in the field of software engineering and his list of publications contains more than 50 papers published in journals and conference proceedings. His main research interests include software engineering (maintenance, testing, business process management, reverse engineering and data mining on software systems, software quality assurance with particular interest on internal quality metrics and on new paradigms for software modularity, including aspect-oriented software, component-based software and model-driven development). He serves both as a member of the program and organizing committees of conferences, and as reviewer of papers submitted to some of the main journals and magazines in the field of software engineering, software maintenance and program comprehension.


Recently the increasing request for complex software systems in the more diversified domains imposes a great challenge to deal with systems of millions of lines of code developed by teams of developers that are geographically distributed and need real-time information and interactions. According to this, from the Software Engineering (SE) community, an increasing interest is pointed towards the use of Computational Intelligence (CI) approaches to solve SE problems. CI can support the software development evaluating, controlling and predicting several important attributes of software projects such as development effort, software reliability, software fault-proneness and programmer's productivity. Such models, called software estimation models, can be built and exploited using approaches from the CI field to provide developers with effective supporting tools (e.g. IDE, recommender systems, code generation, quality assessment and automatic refactoring).

After thorough reviewing by the special session program committee complemented by members of the main conference program committee, all accepted papers will be published in a special section of the conference proceedings book - under an ISBN reference and on CD-ROM support - and submitted for indexation by Thomson Reuters Conference Proceedings Citation Index (CPCI/ISI), INSPEC, DBLP, EI (Elsevier Engineering Village Index) and Scopus.
